Tension and fear April 10, 2006

I am stuck in my armchair with laptop in one hand and remote in the other, trying to decypher the contradictory results coming from exit polls and partial scritiny of the electoral votes for the renewal of the two parliamentary chambers.
After a sunny start this afternoon, when the victory of the center-left coalition appeared certain, the margin narrowed down and eventually the center-right was declared winning in the latest polls.
Now things are a total mess: it appears that a few tens of thousand votes will determine who wins. It will be a long night…
I am under a lot of tension. It would really be a strong disappointment if Prodi did not win. My greatest fear, however, is that nobody wins – it would create a long period of instability.
