Elba day zero June 2, 2006

Yesterday we traveled across Italy, from Venice to Piombino, on the coast of Tuscany. There, we got in a ship which took us to Portoferraio, on the Elba island, and from there we got - again by car - to La Biodola, at 4PM.
The CDF collaboration meeting starts tomorrow, and the first few participants -mostly from Italy, for now- have been arriving in small groups or individually. We came early and we'll leave late, to benefit of two more days of this paradise of island, and the excellent treatment that Hotel Hermitage provides.
However, the weather sucks! It's unseasonably cold, and we saw only a little bit of sun yesterday evening, when Filippo could not be held back and jumped in the pool of the bar (I'll explain the complex topology of the five swimming pools tomorrow - I need pics). I followed him in, and we swam alone for a while, but admittedly getting out was kind of a torture with 19 degrees and a northern wind blowing from the sea.
Physics-wise I have nothing to report so far… Oh yes, number of slides cooked up for the talk I'll give on Tuesday: zero. Total number: zero. Hmmm maybe I should self-censor myself, or some right-wing american reader could start yelling at me about the waste of taxpayers' money (see previous post and link therein!). Oh well.
