Now that Pluto is no longer a planet, will horoscopes change ?
The question sounds childish at first, then if you think about it, is actually a smart one. Will card readers, horoscope makers, astrologers change their predictions of our fate and fortune, once based on the position of Pluto, among the other planets, with respect to our constellation ? Will they thus follow Science for once, thus recognizing the astronomers’ decision that Pluto does not belong to the fab eight set ?
Or, will they just say “Doh, that’s where we got your horoscopes wrong in the last 76 years!” ?

Pluto downgraded – the backlash begins
Following our blog yesterday about the uncertain future of Pluto, 424 astronomers at the IAU General Assembly in Prague came to a decision based upon a series of resolutions. The small Kuiper Belt body has lost its planet status and has been demoted to â
Oh, be sure that they will find some arcane and mistique reason to justify the change… At least, they will do when the change will be well established even among “the man of the street”…
Yep
Unashamedly revealing my utter ignorance about astrology, I venture to ask: do astrologers really take Pluto into account in their… errr… “predictions”? After all, astrology has been around for millennia, and Pluto has only been known for a few decades. I would have thought that astrologers didn’t care much about anything beyond Saturn.
No, as far as I know they do. Sure, they can take in consideration whatever they want… It’s a scam anyway. But check this out:

Evidently, since Pluto moves very slowly, its influence is not day-by-day but allegedly connected to other combinations of planet movements. Or so they claim.
According to Wikipedia Western astrologers may have a problem, other traditions not so much. But judging by the news articles linked at the bottom of the page, they don’t seem too concerned (not that I actually followed them, I’m just looking at the titles — there are limits!).
