The experimentalist who mentored me told me that cosmology was the only field that had more theories than cosmologists.
What an understatement!
Jesus, this is getting to be an old and tiresome joke. Perhaps cosmology has changed a little since Landau died?
Uh huh… about like when they conclude that WMAP *proves* that rapid inflation is a fact, rather than a semi-supported theoretical speculation, because the observations support some of its predictions.
That’s PROOF, I tell ya!

I think cosmology might change a lot while cosmologists remain the same… That is part of the point made by the sentence.
