Hi Toni,

I of course could -and maybe should- have quoted your thesis along with the others... But I did not lie: I forgot you and I think I forgot somebody else too. Of course your work was important for the development of the multijet trigger, and I invite you to post here a link to your thesis, for interested readers.

In any case I do not feel guilty of using any form of academic "tactics"... This blog's main goal is certainly not that of publicizing my own work. I actually believe the post above was rather on the "politically correct" side as far as this blog goes, because I did quote Valls and Troconiz, and I recognized all the authors of the Run II analysis... As you note, we are a 500+ collaboration and keeping track of any worthy effort is simply undoable.

Cheers,
T.

I do not blame you, but a well known tactic in the scientific world is not to quote the jobs. I believe that when you say "and fruited a graduation to Giorgio Cortiana, a PhD to Luca Scodellaro and Mario Paolo Giordani (and I am certainly forgetting some other students). But as Run II started for real, and multijet events started being collected with high efficiency, we gradually lost interest" you could also quote another thesis that was done on the same subject almost independently -the things of the big collaborations- (but using the SecVtx tagger) and also applying it to the HF+MET trigger for the Higgs + MET channel by Antoni Munar of Pisa (the group that developed the SVT). It was published and presented to the CDF collaboration as well.

Of course, it is your blog and you can write whatever you want, but seems nice to recognize always an honest work.

Cheers,

hi nicola,

indeed it cannot, since the W is charged (and has weak hypercharge, too). It decays into $latex q \bar q'$ pairs, like a $latex u \bar d$ or a $latex c \bar s$. The graph is not accurate...

cheers,

Tommaso, tut, tut. I'm afraid it has to be TO the Alps. English speakers aren't good at adapting the language to the perhaps more semantically correct option.
